Purpose of this role:
The IT Help Desk Support role is responsible for providing first-line technical assistance to users, ensuring reliable operation of IT systems and timely resolution of hardware, software, and connectivity issues. The role serves as the primary point of contact for IT-related queries, helping employees remain productive while maintaining high standards of customer service and system reliability.
Key Responsibilities:
· User Support & Incident Resolution
Provide first-line support for IT incidents and service requests via phone, email, and ticketing systems, ensuring issues are resolved efficiently or escalated when required.
· Hardware & Software Support
Install, configure, and troubleshoot desktops, laptops, printers, mobile devices, operating systems, and standard business applications.
· Account & Access Management
Assist with user account creation, password resets, permissions, and access management in line with company security policies.
· Documentation & Knowledge Sharing
Log incidents accurately, maintain support documentation, and contribute to knowledge base articles to improve resolution times and service quality.
·Customer Service & Continuous Improvement
Deliver professional, friendly support to end users and identify recurring issues or opportunities to improve IT processes and user experience.
Knowledge and skills required
Technical Knowledge
· Basic understanding of Windows operating systems and common business applications (e.g. Microsoft 365)
· Familiarity with hardware troubleshooting (PCs, laptops, printers, peripherals)
· Basic networking knowledge (LAN, Wi-Fi, VPN concepts)
· Experience with ticketing or service desk systems is an advantage

· Strong problem-solving and analytical skills
· Excellent communication skills (verbal and written)
· Customer-focused mindset with a professional, helpful approach
· Ability to prioritise tasks and manage multiple issues effectively
· Willingness to learn and adapt to new technologies
Requirements
· Grade 12 / Matric with mathematics/literacy
· A relevant diploma / Bachelor’s degree in IT
